The month of December is the most anticipated month of every year for three major reasons.
· It’s the close of the year.
· Its full of feasts and holidays
· It ushers in a new year. I.e. it’s an eve to the first month of a New Year.
The year might have been rough and tough calling us to take a stock of it at a glance and assessing it in depth to see what failed and why it did so as not to make the same mistakes into the New Year. To others it could have been average. And to the minority, it could have been the best. It’s just a matter of analyzing it from the half full half empty glass analogy.
Both for businesses, schools, as well as individuals, it’s a time to take stock and wrap up the year.
Globally, December is known for its Christmas festivities. In Kenya however, two more things are evident and ring through our minds; Independence Day and a long holiday for our children. Giving many of us a chance to transport our children to the country side. However, with the rise of Covid 19 things are changing and the festive season is not celebrated normally. Children for instance are still in school inside the holiday month, what a mess!
Notwithstanding, Christmas carols got to be sang. Santa has not pushed his gifts for another month, neither has Christmas day shifted to another year. Thus it’s only the form of celebration that changes for better and to others for worse.
Inside the December package is the New Year ahead. The anxiety here becomes real. Will I make it to the New Year? Will my past years’ resolutions that were unattended to affect the upcoming ones? Will I have enough money to last me the month long January? Will I have a better year ahead or will struggle through it? Good news is 80% of people shake off the anxiety and replace it with hope and faith for success ahead of them. My sincere hope is that you my reader shall be among the hopeful group of people.
So then my people, what does December mean to you? Share with us in the comment section if you don't mind.
December to me is a month to reflect on areas that I need to work on in the next year .It's more of a reflection than a celebration of Xmas .
