Of resolutions and goal setting

Resolutions setting

Have you written down your resolutions for the new year?
Or you're still fearful that you may end up not fulfilling any of them like last year?
Are you also afraid that you may loose track on the way and get tired before it really works out for you or rather succeeds? I got you friend, worry no more.
Below are some tips on how to write sustainable resolutions.

1. Categorize your resolutions

Have Them in major categories to come down to specifics. That way, you will not just be setting them from anywhere but from a certain point of view. At the end of it all you will be specific and might fall on the moon if not on the stars. Also you will be able to assess your performance at the end from the categories point and you will not be without success. You can even rate each in terms of percentage...80% achieved for instance. And it's also easy to keep track of your performance. For example you may want to have one as below.

Spiritual

Daily family devotions
Daily personal evening meditations
Weekly personal prayers

Health and fitness
Daily work out
Drinking 8glasses of water daily
Healthy eating
Weekly new recipes

Academic
Start my master's
Do 5 online short courses
Read widely

Family
Have monthly family outs
Daily family times at dinner
Weekly family meditations

2. Set a habit/schedule a routine

It takes one only 21 days to form a habit and just 90 days to form a permanent lifestyle. This three weeks and three months rule will be perfect in setting our resolutions this year. If you feel like giving up just after a week or so, push yourself harder for a few more days till you have above days in check. And let's see how this unfolds. Simply put, you want to be well hydrated, try drinking those 8glasses daily for the 21 days and then for 3 months.

3. Do not recycle

Unless need be, don't recycle your resolutions. Worse still, don't copy paste some one else's. Start a new and work on meeting your Goals. Daily meditate on your success and failures but more often weekly and monthly to keep yourself in check and on track again. If last year you wanted to be financially fit, then this year work on having specific side hustles or rather income generating projects. That way you do not recycle the ambiguous goal that never saw the light of day.

4. Be realistic, but aim high

Don't be afraid of dreaming and having visions. Look at yourself in 5 years and admire what you would love to be. Then come back and think on ways to keep up or getting there. Find your present goal in arriving there and act on it. You want to have a big restaurant in the city in 5years, then you could as well think of investing in research, knowledge and experience this year on the same by working for big restaurants. Then with a little savings from the job, you could start small with a food Caffe/court in your estate and grow to your full potential of the restaurant.

5. Have a vision board.

A vision board is a great place to start. Get yourself one to help you achieve your goals for the year. Wanna know what this is exactly? Are you already guessing what it could be?
