You are What you Eat
Those of us who are
farmers know well enough that you cannot plant lemons and expect oranges or
maize and expect wheat. Right? To the parents- the first teachers they will
also tell you that they can’t see a funny character growing in their children
and expect a good mannered adult just like that. The same way, you cannot eat
bread and expect to pee meat. Neither can you feed on lies and gossip and expect
to produce pure thoughts. You eat fat you grow fatter.
This only means that
your health is your responsibility. Be it physically or spiritually. So how do you
balance the two at once? Here are few reminders that will be helpful.
Liquids
Drink a lot of Water- fresh pure water. Take freshly made juices and smoothies
too and you will be amazed at the results. Water, juices and smoothies are not
only necessary in our body for nourishment but also for physical healing. Ask
some of us who have had bad migraines.
Enough rest
There is so much one cannot do without rest. Nap time is not only important for
babies but to adults too. Quality sleep however is the best rest one can have.
Scientists say that quality sleep is in the few hours of the night before
midnight. And guess what, the best medicine to nerve diseases is rest.
Nutrition
eat well, appropriately and healthy. How do I mean? Check on your proportions,
timing, the balance and most importantly avoid junk foods and go for more plant
based foods- cereals, veges and fruits. (First diet as prescribed to our first
parents).
Pure air
Studies have shown that those who live in the country side tend to live longer
than those in the busy urban neighborhoods. This may seem quite obvious because
of the wholesome meals they are accustomed to, but the air they breathe is
another determining factor. Urban centers breathe polluted air due to many
factors including factories and industrial emissions.
Sunlight
Natural light is not only good for our body but to our eyes. Sunlight will
give you energy, keep you from some obvious diseases and light up your world.
Exercise
– you don’t have to go to the gym to exercise rather a walk to the shop for
instance may just be what you need. Actually, walking is the best and easiest
exercise we can ever have and it yields results. If you are still in doubt, ask
expectant women.
Meditation
Do you have some ‘me’ time because you sure need some? It’s even healthier to have
some time alone with God just the two of you -as though to a friend. It’s
fulfilling and recharging. You wanna try this at home this year in your most
private place and time.
Optimism
Most of us are surrounded by pessimists and so our environment is intoxicated
and negatively charged. The right attitude will take us to the highest
achievable altitude. So, work on being more positive minded this year. A little
optimism goes a long way.
Plant in you good
character with the right and appropriate foods as well as activities and you’ll
see - your system will be highly nourished and you will live longer and
healthier.
Isn’t this your desire?
Eat what you wish and want to Be.
